Trying to persevere with water colours but finding it really hard. Nearly ditched this but hey, we all have bad days.

This is wonderful! I know the feeling when you just want to chuck something but I'm glad you persevered, the colours are very effective and I love the cool, still atmosphere they give :)

Thank you. Despite the despair when things are not going right it is worth pushing on, even when the end result is rubbish, as you are learning all the time. Thanks also for the fave.

Why in the world would you ditch such a fantastic study?! You're not allowed to judge your own work, you must post it and allow us all to do it for you!

When I finally move on to watercolours This is how I want to paint!

Wow, thank you so much, I really struggled with the ground work, forest floors are a bit ambitious for a novice!  Wanted to cover it with bluebells!!! Ha ha, who do I think I am - Monet!!! Thanks for the fave.

But the forest floor looks awesome. Detailing the clumps in the foreground and suggesting them in the background is very effective. When you paint ignore what your mind is telling you and just keep painting!

I totally agree that you can overthink it. Better results if you rely on instinct and happy accidents (I love those!).
